Minneapolis, Minnesota

THE GOAL

As a not-for-profit healthcare system, the company sought to improve the utilization of its fleet assets in order to maximize efficiency and lower operational costs.

THE CHALLENGE

As a multi-service healthcare provider, the company had a variety of transportation needs—including ambulance and medical transportation, courier service, security patrol and medical equipment delivery. Each service had its own procedures when it came to the provision of vehicles, fuelling, maintenance and replacement, which led to fragmented control of fleet utilization.

THE STRATEGY

Our role was to analyze existing methods of fleet management practices and determine options to improve fleet efficiency and lower operational costs. We developed a complete fleet strategy and supported the delivery of an effective service program. Latium created standardized, company-wide fleet management practices and procedures, which included everything from the work order process to preventative maintenance to driver and vendor management.

THE RESULT

An annual cost savings of between $1-2 million was achieved through the development of a successful fleet management strategy, the recruitment of a professional fleet manager, and the implementation of maintenance procedures.
